Year 5/6 Basketball Tournament

On Tuesday 30th January a group of year 5 and 6 children, both boys and girls, went to Inspire Suffolk for one round of the School Games Basketball Tournament. The morning started positively with a strong 19-4 win over Melton. The girls, who were very nervous to start off with, eased into their first 7 minutes and set the boys up nicely for their half. A special mention for Sam who scored a very stylish three pointer in our first game! Our second game saw a loss to a strong Britannia side however, this didn’t ruin the team’s spirit as they came out fighting (not literally) against Colneis and won 8-0. In our final game against Sandlings, the girls were determined to show the boys how it is done as they managed to score 20 points in their half. An outstanding performance! The boys kept control of the lead and a solid performance meant the game finished 21-0! A massive well done to all those who took part – the team were a credit to the school. After two weeks of work you can’t complain with second place! Another well done goes to Jack who was selected for the ‘fair play award’ out of Rendlesham’s team.
