Year 3/4

Year 3/4 Football Tournament
On Tuesday 3rd October a team of year 3/4 boys were taken to a 7 a-side tournament at Inspire Suffolk. Even though we only two weeks of training prior to the tournament, the group of boys were outstanding. The day started off with a match against Bucklesham. Even though the team started off very strong, we didn't manage to score - our first match ending 0-0. The teamwork and footballing ability the boys had shown so far was very promising and we took this into our next game. As a result of this we managed to score twice leading us to a 2-0 win over Halifax B. In our third game the team showed great desire and managed to beat The Oaks 1-0. With three games down without conceding a goal, the boys looked very confident. This confidence was taken into our penultimate game as we went on to play Witnesham; a fantastic performance resulted in a 4-0 win! The boys carried their impressive form into their final game to beat Claydon 3-0: a very fitting end to the day! A special mention to Ollie who was selected to win the ‘fair play award’ from our team!
Overall, the whole team played unbelievably and showcased some excellent football- this meant they ended the day with 13 points out of a possible 15. In total, the team managed to score 10 goals: Alfie, Harvey, Mekhi, Ollie, Leo and Rees all finding the back of the net. However at the other end Tyler, our goal keeper, managed 5 clean sheets out of 5 games. In total, despite the tournament being non-competitive, the team not only having the best goal difference were also joint top on points out of the 22 other schools who attended! A fantastic achievement - a team who should be very proud of themselves!
