As well as taking part in the Sportshall Athletics Tournament on Thursday, 15th January, two of our pupils (Josh and Layla-Rose) also took part in another round of cross-country. This race took place on a tricky course in tricky conditions at Woodbridge School. Both children have represented the school and themselves superbly throughout these events as they keep earning the opportunity to compete against over 200 year 6 and 7 seven pupils. Layla-Rose finished with a time that earned her a joint 47th place finish and was one of only six year 6 pupils to finish in the top 50! Josh also ran an amazing race and came 19th overall. Josh's incredible top 20 finish earned him a spot as the reserve for the Suffolk Schools Team, who are due to race this weekend. This is the first time a Rendlesham pupil has placed this highly and been in contention for the Anglian Finals. It is also not just current pupils who ran very successful races at Woodbridge School, as former pupils, Isaac and Elsa, also took part. Elsa ran a very resilient race and came 25th overall, well done on another brilliant result Elsa! We would like to wish Isaac the best of luck for this weekend too. His astounding 6th place finish in his race has earned him a place running for the Suffolk Schools Team in the previously mentioned Anglian Finals taking place in Northampton. Go and smash it Isaac! We are so proud of all our runners, from those who took part in the very first round way back in April of 2025 to those who have competed in the more recent qualification rounds. Planning is well underway for this year's iteration of the Suffolk Schools event, for year 4,5 and 6, due to take place in March 2026, and we cannot wait to celebrate many more fantastic achievements.

Don't forget next Friday (6th February) is number day in school. Dress as a Rockstar or with any clothing with numbers on it. You can donate here: http://charity.gift.tech/rendleshamcommunityprimaryschool

Times Tables Rock Stars Badges. We currently have 10 pupils in the school who can answer TTRS questions in under a second, 36 pupils under 2 seconds and 33 pupils under 3 seconds. To earn these badges, pupils have to work on their speed in the studio; the speed is taken from their last ten attempts. On Number Day (February 6th) we will be crowning a TTRS Champion of the School.

A great week of uploads on the Learning Pi app this week. We have picked some lovely examples of pupils being: imaginative and creative, curious, determined and resilient; and of having a sense of place and participating.

U11s Sportshall Athletics: On Thursday 15th January a team of 23 year 6 children travelled to Suffolk One to take part in an indoor athletics event. The team competed against another 26 schools who took part across two sessions. We are awaiting the final results but regardless of these, are incredibly proud of the determination and resilience the team showed. Their constant roaring support and encouragement for each other was a joy to watch (and hear)! Both these recent events have been made all the more smarter with massive thanks to Clarke and Simpson Auctions, who very generously have sponsored our new multisport kit. The children have worn this kit purposefully during these events and have represented Rendlesham Primary School with pride. We cannot wait to put the kit to more use as the year goes on.

We have had some lovely examples of collaboration, determination, responsibility and participation uploaded over the last week on Learning Pi. Here are some of our favourites.
