Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

We are committed to ensuring every child feels valued, supported and empowered to reach their full potential.  We are dedicated to offering a nurturing and inclusive environment where all children thrive by accessing a high quality, broad and balanced curriculum.  We work closely with families, professionals, and our wider community to create opportunities that celebrate each child's unique abilities.  Together, we aim to build a foundation of confidence, resilience and lifelong learning for all.

Universal and Targeted Provision at Rendlesham Primary

At Rendlesham Primary, we provide support at different levels to help all children access learning, develop their independence and feel happy, safe and included.

Universal provision is the support that is available to all children as part of everyday school life. This includes things such as clear routines and expectations, visual supports, accessible classroom environments, opportunities to regulate and movement breaks, and different ways for children to engage with and demonstrate their learning. These approaches are part of good inclusive practice and benefit many children, whether or not they have identified additional needs.

Targeted provision is additional support for children who need something more specific or personalised. This might include small-group work, individual interventions, additional adult support, specific programmes or strategies, or support around communication, emotional wellbeing, sensory needs or learning. Targeted support is carefully planned around the child’s individual needs and is reviewed regularly to make sure it is helping them to make progress and participate fully in school life.
